The Red Lion restaurant in Stathern, Leicestershire
The Red Lion Inn is situated in the picturesque village of Stathern, Leicestershire, on Red Lion Street. It is an award winning gastro pub with a warm and welcoming atmosphere. Whilst it’s out of town location may mean that some decide not to visit, the food and service keeps drawing in locals and visitors day after day.
The Red Lion is a traditional English bar that serves a whole host of real ales, lagers and speciality bottled beers. However it also goes far beyond the role of a pub as it provides guests with three different drinking and dining options, including a comfy and cosy lounge and bar area, scattered with newspapers, magazines and soft furnishings as well as a separate informal dining room and a further, more elegant dining room that is ideal for special occasions.
The food served at The Red Lion is a real treat and diners can rest assured that they will receive the same high quality food, created from locally sourced produce whether they are tucking in to a full three course meal or are just dropping by for a light bite. The menu changes daily and is dependent on fresh, seasonal ingredients. Stand out dishes include the braised should of lamb with a garlic gratin and ratatouille, the Lincolnshire sausages, handmade by David Cox in Stathern, with mustard mash and onion gravy and a whole baked sea bass with a tomato and shallot dressing, jersey royals and purple sprouting broccoli.
A visit to The Red Lion Inn is highly advised for those looking for spectacular food in comforting surroundings. They don’t hand out awards like the Michelin Bib Gourmand lightly, and once you visit, you will see why this venue deserves it.

A fine restaurant/pub which fully deserves its AA Rosette status. Had the pan fried salmon fillet and the chocolate brownie which were both really good. Salmon was soft and flakey and the chocolate brownie was crunchy and soft at the same time!! Really looking forward to going back soon.
