Cow and Plough Pub and Restaurant in Oadby, Leicestershire
Just outside of Oadby and only 10 minutes drive from the centre of Leicester is the award winning Cow and Plough restaurant and traditional public house. Set within rambling old farm buildings the Cow and Plough is part of the Steamin’ Billy Brewery Co. a local fine brewers with a further speciality in great food, service and of course great ales.
The venue is beautifully decorated using an eclectic mix of traditional pub artefacts, ancient metal advertising boards for old brews, little trinkets and used pub signs that add to the character of these pleasant surroundings. On entrance to the building you will be greeted by one of the friendly team and it is a choice whether diners prefer to have a drink or go straight through into the restaurant area to the rear of the building. The restaurant again is beautifully decorated and can seat up to 90 guests on an array of differing size tables for 2 to 10. The food menu equals the surroundings and diners are encouraged to sample the full menu range where the aim is to provide delicious home cooked food using the best ingredients available at that time. The use of local produce is prevalent throughout the menu and starter favourites range from local Beetroot & Quenby Stilton Risotto, (particularly for vegetarians), to Asparagus Spears wrapped in Parma ham with a Parmesan Crust.
A selection of home-made puddings and cheeses welcome those at the final stage of the evening if you still have the space and all is washed down beautifully with reasonably priced house red and white wines.
Traditional dishes like A Trio of award winning Wood’s sausages, colcannon mash, onion rings and red wine gravy, but it is the quality of the Belly of Pork, Greshingham Duck and Fillets of Sea Bass with Saffron potatoes that must be tried.
The Cow and Plough is the perfect county setting for people looking for a relaxed dining experience just outside the city of Leicester, book online with Go dine to receive text message confirmation.

Good venue - food generally very good - marked down a little as the root vegetable dauphenois which I thought sounded very interesting actually was disappointing - being slightly undercooked.

Great meal. Some of the dishes were a little over done but didn’t detract from the overall quality too much so it would be an injustice to dwell on that point. Extra vegetables were no problem when asked for. Good VFM.

Great food. The beef was the best I have ever had! The waiting staff are lovely but marked down slightly due to the lack of uniform. Would definitely recommend this pub.

The highest standard of any pub I have visited, setting was traditional with quirks and the food was great. Opted for the venison, which was superb. Only slight glitch was that the carrots were warm, but it didn't bother me. Despite this, we were given a free round of drinks which was greatly appreciated. This family atmosphere is hard to replicate and will be bringing the rest of the family for sunday lunch - cant wait!
