Chef Patron restaurant in Thurlaston, Leicestershire
Chef Patron is a delightful British and European restaurant in the heart of Thurlaston, a picturesque village that boasts an enviable location in rural Leicestershire whilst remaining accessible with junction 21 of the M1 just ten minutes away. Proprietors Kevin and Sally have created a warm and friendly venue that rapidly asserted itself as a key focal point in the local community.
Housed within a historic 17th century public house that sits directly opposite a Norman Church, Chef Patron has been styled with comfort in mind. With the signature Chef Patron red splashed on the walls, huge squashy arms chairs, a roaring open fire, wooden beams and crisp white table linen, the venue strikes the balance between cosy local bar and stylish restaurant perfectly. Diners are welcomed into the restaurant by the family team of staff and are able to sit and peruse the menu at their leisure in front of the fire or by the well-stocked bar. A conservatory to the rear provides an ideal spot for soaking up the summer time sun whilst enjoying a drink or two with family and friends.
Chef Patron is one of the most exciting restaurants that Leicestershire has to offer thanks to its unique Anglo-European menu. You can expect to see everything from classic British creations such as rosemary lamb cutlet served pink in Chef Patron’s homemade parsley butter with a honey and fresh mint rosti; French-inspired Chateau Briand de Lol that is perfect for two people and carved at your table and the delicious Indian delicacy; sugar-baked chawl served on a bed of sweet potato and mango rosti finished with a cognac and mango jus. A traditional carvery is also available on a Sunday and a Wednesday that is incredibly popular and sees the restaurant filled to the brim each week.
Chef Patron is a delightful countryside restaurant that is the perfect base from which to explore what Leicestershire has to offer. With friendly staff, a delectable menu, well-stocked bar and a comfortable lounge area, if you sit down, you may never want to leave!

This was my second visit this year and although the food was very good I feel that the 1st visit was better - There had been a 6 month gap in visits and the menu was the same but seemed to have more sauce - which I find can over power the food. Service was excellent and very friendly. Toilets - this is a must for the fact they they have calendar pictures of very tasty men in the ladies and I assume women in the mens although hubby did not go into detail... Will give it a another visit but perhaps in the new year.
