Chef Patron is a fantastic restaurant in the heart of the picturesque Thurlaston, a beautiful countryside village in Leicestershire. Proprietors Kevin and Sally seek to produce hearty modern Anglo-European cuisine using the very best of local produce.
A historic 17th century public house opposite Norman Church the restaurant conservatory area is to the rear; Chef Patron has been re-styled to give the venue more of a warm ambient feel and diners to the restaurant are welcomed in by the family team and are welcome to sit down and peruse the menus by the fire to the right or in the bar area to the left.
The menu offers to be a real treat; for start Chef Patron Pate, Chefs Home-made pate with a hint of Marsala and Cognac, Field Mushrooms ‘En Croute’, or Wood Pigeon; lightly sautéed breast on rocked with a fresh citrus salad. For main Patron’s Tender Loin of Pork, stuffed with mozzarella wrapped in Parma ham and finished in a tomato basil and garlic olive sauce, or the Pan Roasted Greshingham Duck Breast with Orange and coriander or the house special, Chateau Briand de Lol, a double fillet steak cooked medium rare served with a selection of vegetables.

This was my second visit this year and although the food was very good I feel that the 1st visit was better - There had been a 6 month gap in visits and the menu was the same but seemed to have more sauce - which I find can over power the food. Service was excellent and very friendly. Toilets - this is a must for the fact they they have calendar pictures of very tasty men in the ladies and I assume women in the mens although hubby did not go into detail... Will give it a another visit but perhaps in the new year.
