Situated in the centre of Leicester slightly tucked away down the peaceful Millstone Lane is The Boot Room, a restaurant with a name that acknowledges the buildings history. Owned by Stephen Fitzpatrick a talented chef with a fantastic track record and experience The Boot Room has a simple and effective philosophy to “Buy quality ingredients treat them well and let your customer enjoy the experience.” Stephen started his quest in 1982 as an apprentice and moved through the ranks to head a number of wonderful hotel kitchens in the Cotswolds achieving two rosette status at The Grapevine, Stow on the Wold and the Noel Arms, Chipping Campden.
The Boot Room is a recent addition to the Leicester restaurant scene following Stephen’s search for a quality venue that matches the quality coming from the kitchen and after a number of months sympathetically restoring this old shoe and boot factory The Boot Room opened its doors in 2009 and is already regarded as one of Leicester’s premier eateries.
Stephen is helped by a fine and enthusiastic chef in John-Paul and together they follow their philosophy through and Go dine were given a treat of watching the Pan-fried Sea Bass on a fondant potato, crisp Crab ravioli with Pak Choi and spring onions being cooked in swirl of activity in the well appointed kitchen.

This was our first visit to this lovely restaurant, but it will definitely not be our last! The staff were friendly, relaxed and efficient and the food was of superb quality. The goat's cheese starter was amazing and the main course was fresh and full of flavour. Would highly recommend.

The food was of a very high standard and so was the waiting staff. Despite being a busy Saturday night, it was very efficient yet relaxed which was great. Thoroughly enjoyed the beef madallions and dauphinoise potatoes and all in all made a wonderful evening. The only minor problem was there wasn't enough soap in the toilets.

Although a quiet lunch venue it is top quality, and as we were celebrating a small wedding party it proved a perfect location. The staff were very accomodating making the meal very special. The food was excellent and there was a choice menu for the more budget conscious as well as the fine diner! Would certainly recommend to everyone. Superb!

A TALE OF TWO HALVES:
Loved the location and decor. We were the only diners, but it was a Thursday and it was only about 7pm. Another couple arrived around 7.30 to make the place bit less echoey.
Everything is right about this venue, so it has every right to be busier.
The 'Tale of 2 Halves" refers to the food. One of us had a great meal, the other was a good average.
Excellent was: Belly Pork starter (perfectly cooked and presented), Monk Fish main (good sized portion, well cooked, well presented).
Average was: Smoked Salmon starter (quite bland, unimaginative sauce), Sea Bass main (overcooked and quite dry).
Price around 50 quid for 2 people, 2 courses and 2 glasses of wine (excellent Chilean Merlot). If both diners had eaten to the same standard price would be justifiable. As it was, probably a bit on the steep side.

The restaurant is lovely with extremely friendly service and gorgeous food. The three courses menu were all presented beautifully and tasted fantastic. Eaten in lovely surroundings and a cosy environment, we shall be going again
